What do I have to be glad about?

You may be thinking: "How can I be glad hearted when...

I am worried about...

I have to live with...

There is no relief in sight from...

The pain just won't go away...

I've lost...

I am afraid of...

I have no one to turn to...

Pause.

Let's reframe those into

NOT worry BUT worship.

NOT what is seen BUT what is unseen.

NOT losing BUT gaining.

NOT fear BUT trust.

Flip open your Bible and be reassured that every concern you have is turned into comfort.

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3 NLT).

As Joni Eareckson says, "Mouth the words" of thanks and praise before you feel them. Speak to your soul as David did and your soul will respond.

Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him...(Psalm 42:5 NIV).

It's OK to talk to your soul and to even question why it is sad. That leads to remembering where your hope is and turning your misgivings into confidence.

As Katherine Wolf says, "Fake it till you make it."

NOT doubts BUT delight.
