CRACKED POTS

WORD FOR TODAY: SHINE
“…if I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16 MSG).
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in.
~ from ”Anthem” by Leonard Cohen
The cracks--our broken parts, failings, mistakes--are the very places that God’s light of grace can seep in to bring healing and mercy to us. The fissures of our lives also provide openings for love to shine through with hope for others.
The light beam is a two-way channel—inward and outward, penetrating and projecting. It’s how darkness gets turned into light for us and for others.
What shadow do you need to let God’s light brighten? How can you send out a gleam for someone else today?
