LIGHTBEARER CALLING: ADVANCE TEAM
Luke 10: 1-11, 16-20
“…the Lord appointed seventy others and sent them out on ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he himself intended to go” (Luke:10:1 NIV).
When Jesus planned a hillside chat for 5,000, he didn’t just show up to teach and miracles happened. He sent out his own Advance Team of LightBearers in two by two before him to survey the area. His large gatherings were intentional, not random.
Jesus probably wasn’t the first person to use the concept of an Advance Team, but He did set a pattern for us. When he calls us, he also dispatches us to prepare nourishing soil for the seeds of his Gospel message.
He often calls us to go out ahead of him to soften a hard heart, encourage a desperate one, or comfort a grieving soul. Like the two-by-two’s he summoned and sent, we, too, are his Advance Team, posted to places where he himself intends to go.
Where is he sending you, LightBearer ? What part is he asking you to play in “feeding the 5,000”?
