Not Pushbacks But Opportunities

“They [the priests and captain of the temple] seized Peter and John and, because it was evening, they put them in jail until the next day. But many who heard the message believed, so the number of men who believed grew to about five thousand” (Acts 4:3 NIV).
Busted! Thrown in a stony-cold prison. No legal recourse. Helpless in the face of authoritarian power. Hard to find a positive note in those circumstances.
Maybe that’s where you are in this season of life—imprisoned by harmful happenings, alone against powerful forces, vulnerable to situations beyond your control. No light in sight.
That’s where Peter and John found themselves after Jesus’ resurrection. Newly sent out and empowered by the Holy Spirit, they quickly found that the ruling authorities pushed back on the good news about Jesus’ resurrection. It took remarkable courage for them to stand firm and speak the truth.
Because they didn’t cave in, they became LightBearers to five thousand more believers!
What desert or wilderness do you find yourself in at this moment? Instead of focusing on the bleakness of the wasteland, take a closer look and see how God can use it to carry out His purpose for you and His plan for the world.
PRAYER: Lord of opportunities, Help us to see beyond the dismal developments in our day to your delightful design as we seek to be LightBearers in your Kingdom. AMEN
